When I created this work, I sought to encapsulate a poignant moment—a man, rooted and entwined with trees, standing in quiet defiance atop a busy bridge. Surrounded by the relentless flow of passers-by, his presence interrupts the rush and noise, urging onlookers to pause and reflect. Through his silent posture, I intended him to serve as a living protest, imploring the return of trees to our urban spaces, where concrete structures have long displaced nature. It’s both a call for ecological awareness and a heartfelt homage to the steadfast resilience of trees – a life force that endures humanity’s indifference and mistreatment with silent grace. I wanted viewers to sense the urgency and serenity in his stance, to feel the longing for reconnection, and to recognise the quiet plea woven into the city’s fabric.
