When I created this painting, “AVATAR,” I was deeply moved by James Cameron’s cinematic vision and the powerful imagery from the film. As part of my Cinema series from 2013, I wanted to explore the interaction between nature and humanity, using the landscape as a form of dialogue between my personal emotions and the narrative crafted by the director. In this particular work, I focused on the moment on Pandora where a tiny helicopter is dwarfed by the massive, floating landforms – an image that always struck me as a vivid representation of nature’s majesty and dominance over human endeavors. I aimed to capture the awe and humility one feels in the face of the natural world, inviting viewers to reflect on our place within it and the stories that shape our perception of what is truly impressive.
