“Bleeding Garden” is a deeply personal painting that captures my emotional response to the loss of a cherished permaculture garden, cultivated with dedication and affection over five years. The artwork visually communicates this sense of loss where my wounds blending with the plants, birds and insects I have been united with. The piece employs a striking contrast between vivid greens and reds, symbolizing both the vitality of the plants and the metaphorical bleeding wound of loss. At the bottom of the composition, a band of white space offers a glimmer of hope, suggesting the possibility of renewal and the restoration of both the artist’s internal sense of peace and the external beauty of the garden.
