The painting titled BLUE WHALE is part of my “Frozen tales” series created in 2010. It portrays a wounded blue whale, its empty insides hinting at a gradual transformation into a skeleton. The creature is enveloped by the deep blue tones of the ocean, while a striking white light from above illuminates the whale as it ascends toward the surface. The composition evokes a sense of vulnerability and transition, enhanced by the interplay of color and light. I used the word “Frozen” to encompass ideas such as safeguarding, maintenance, protection, conservation, defense, safety, and shield. Through this work, I invite viewers to reflect on sustainable solutions for preserving the oceans within contemporary society. The painting not only captures the majesty and fragility of the blue whale but also serves as a visual metaphor for broader environmental themes.
