In Rooting Dream n°11, the same trees reappear beneath an assault of neon velocity. Acid light races across a pastel field, producing an anaesthetic sublime: seductive, frictionless, and quietly catastrophic. The trunks lose their contours in a celestial wash, their identities cancelled by the very luminosity that claims to illuminate them. This sugary atmosphere does not soften the violence; it makes it more disturbing, staging ecological collapse as spectacle, pleasure, and distraction. Yet the forest does not answer in the language of outrage. It absorbs the disturbance with sovereign silence, holding within its wounded forms a temporality beyond the human. The work confronts us with a stark asymmetry: our appetite for instant sensation against the flora’s ancient capacity to endure, withdraw, and begin again.
