Immersed in the forest near Bergerac, France, I entered the slow pulse of light and silence that shaped this work. The trees seemed to hold time rather than mark it – upright, dark, and listening beneath a canopy of gold. Around me, the forest was not still, but moving at a rhythm too deep to be seen at once: leaves falling, colour thickening, shadows gathering in blue and violet at the ground. This painting belongs to the Slow Motion series as a moment suspended between breath and change, where the landscape becomes less a place observed than a state of absorption – a memory of being inside the forest as it quietly transforms.
