The painting, part of the “Directions” series created in 2005, embodies the aftermath of a significant event – an exploration of matter in a state following action, collision, or interaction. The composition is marked by fragmentation, representing the irreversible consequences these actions have on the subject. Through these works, I seek to communicate within both unfamiliar and familiar environments, highlighting a sense of separation from a previously unified whole. The fragmented elements within the painting resemble letter forms and the echoes of attempted words, yet these pieces consistently fall short of conveying anything beyond their own stasis and immobilization. This repeated failure to fully communicate suggests that wholeness is essential for genuine connection and understanding. The painting’s inability to transmit clear meaning underscores the importance of unity in communication. In this particular series, I use materials such as nails and wood pieces embedded in the canvas to capture the essence of moments just after a decisive action. These physical components serve as visual metaphors for the momentum and energy preserved within the artwork. The painting thus becomes a reflection of opposing forces and hidden impulses, embracing the necessity to progress, and ultimately, to discover a balance between contradiction, emptiness, and intensity.
