This painting part of my “Cinema” series, is inspired by In Tony Bui’s 1999 film Three Seasons, lotus flowers serve as a central symbol of purity, beauty, and tradition. The lotuses represent a fragile, enduring beauty and a connection to Vietnam’s past. The film draws a parallel between the flowers and the characters, suggesting that, like the lotus, people strive for purity even when surrounded by the “mud” of poverty and societal change. I tried to capture this poetic vision in my work.
