As I painted Study for rooting n°1 for my “Slow-Motion” series, I found myself revisiting my profound connection with trees – a theme I never tire of exploring. Trees, to me, are gentle teachers; their very presence imparts wisdom and a sense of rooted calm. Through observing them, I’ve learnt the value of moving slowly, of being firmly grounded while also aspiring skyward, their crowns stretching towards the stars above. For me, they are living symbols of breath and consciousness, quietly reminding us to be present. In this work, I set the tree crowns adrift in a veil of mist, evoking their mysterious link to the wide, unfathomable cosmos. The haze hints at something unseen, inviting viewers to sense not only the visible strength of these beings, but also their connection to the vastness beyond our understanding.
