This study is part of my research for the “Slow-Motion” series, I sought to capture the stillness of winter – an almost suspended moment where nature appears frozen in time. I’ve depicted trees veiled in frost, their forms mirrored in the tranquil water below. There’s a quiet fascination in observing these trees: though they seem lifeless, I know that beneath their dormant surface, a surge of vitality waits for the arrival of spring, ready to explode into lush green foliage. The gentle light in this scene is subtle and enigmatic, much like the delicate glimmer of winter sun rays, softly illuminating the landscape. This work explores my ongoing journey of rooting – of finding steadfastness and presence. Through painting trees, I am reminded that by simply breathing, I can ground myself, drawing strength from within, much like the trees themselves, which embody the safest and most enduring presence.
