Painted in Bergerac, France, this eighth study stands at the threshold – no longer fully Slow, not yet given over to Motion. The trunks rise dark and certain, charcoal witnesses holding their ground, while above them the canopy dissolves into a scatter of yellow and green, light caught mid-breath. Below, mist rises pale and blue at the base of the trees, a vapor that blurs the line between rootedness and disappearance. This is the forest as it exists just before the turning – still breathing slowly, still whole, but already carrying the tremor of what comes next. Rooting asks: how long can stillness hold before it starts to move?
